Doing It

About

My name’s Pete Greenwood. I live in Wigan (that’s in the UK if you’re unfamiliar). At the time of writing (May 2008) I work full-time as a delivery driver for a major chain of stores. This blog is about changing all that.

I shall use this section as a Permanent Statement of Intent.

For a long time I have wanted to be my own boss. In addition, I also want to help others to become self-sufficient. It is my intention to achieve that for myself, and for as many others as I can help. It can be done. Others are doing it right now. I intend to be one of them.

Charity begins at home. True – with some fairly horrendous debts to clear, additional income will not only be welcome, it’s a necessity! But our household does support some charities, if only in small ways at present: the local Hospice benefits from our unwanted items; we subscribe to a charity-based magazine – you know the sort of thing. I want to be in a position to emulate others whom I admire for their charity work, who are wealthy enough, and concerned enough, to give something back to our society.

With this in mind, from Day One I intend to turn over a proportion of my profits to selected charities – which means you will be helping those charities, too, if you choose to follow up any of the links provided on this site.

To start with, those charity donations will be 10% of profits. Over time, I intend to increase that proportion as my income increases – that way, more charities will benefit.

In addition, I intend to provide both advice and practical help to others who seek independence – you will be able to learn from my mistakes!

Watch this space!
